Search Savage Library for local holdings, Marmot Global for holdings of libraries throughout Colorado's Western Slope, and Prospector for holdings of major research libraries in Colorado.

Searching for Books

Local Collections

To search for books, journals in print format, DVD's, CD's ...in fact, anything that resides physically within the Savage Library, go to the Savage Library Homepage and search in the box below "Search the Catalog". Notice that keyword is the default search field. You may change the keyword search to a different field, including author, title, subject, or ISBN. After you have done a search, you also have the choice of jumping into the Advanced Search option if you wish to do a Boolean search.

Marmot is a consortium of libraries serving the region that encompasses Western Colorado. If the Western State Colorado University Savage Library does not have what you are looking for, click on Marmot to search the catalogs of dozens of libraries throughout the Western Slope simultaneously.

If you find what you are looking for residing at another library, you may Place a Hold on the item from your own computer. This is similar to an Inter-Library Loan. Your item will automatically be sent to the Savage Library where you may pick it up at the Circulation Desk.

To search the Marmot catalog - simply visit our catalog (https://western.marmot.org/) and choose "Marmot Catalog" in the drop down menu.

Prospector is a unified catalog of twenty three academic, public and special libraries in Colorado and Wyoming. Through Prospector you have access to over 20 million books, journals, DVDs, CDs, videos and other materials held in these libraries. With a single search you can identify and borrow materials from the collections. Click "Request Item" in Prospector and the item will be sent to Savage Library where you may pick it up at the Circulation Desk.
